What aspect of being in Dream Team has stuck with you?
The 1:1 conversations with my Dream Team Advisor. She took the time to learn more about me and my family. She went beyond transactional conversations about degree attainment and credits or classes needed to graduate. She knew people of color like myself (Latino) had to overcome additional challenges to success, so she took the time to listen.
What are your goals for the future, and what goals have you achieved?
My major goal was to complete my doctorate degree, which I was fortunate to achieve in 2018. With my Ph.D., I had an additional goal to be a consultant, which I have accomplished in recent years. Other goals in the near future include new business ventures related to soccer, or more commonly known futbol.
What is one of your favorite memories of the Dream Team?
One of my favorite memories was hanging out in the Dream Team office with other friends who were also part of the Dream Team program.
What is one piece of advice you would give a Dream Team student who has just graduated high school?
One piece of advice I would provide to recently graduated Dream Team high school students is to volunteer in your community or on a specific designated volunteer board or commission. Volunteering provides an opportunity to give back to your community and, at the same time, increase the ability to network with like-minded individuals within different industries of the needs for changes in technology, society, and the environment to transform.
