What are you up to now that you’ve earned your degree?

I currently work for a design-build general contractor as a Project Engineer specializing in building Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings. Most of my involvement is within the Pre-Construction Department, where I help coordinate the design of our projects.

What’s the best thing that’s happened to you since being out of school?

I have been very fortunate to have had a lot of great experiences after being a part of the Dream Team, but if I could only choose one, it would be studying abroad during college. I studied abroad in Spain for one semester and had an amazing time! I was able to make a lot of new friends from all over the world, travel all over Europe, experience new cultures, try new food, visit historical sites, and watch El Classico when Messi was still with Barcelona.

What is one thing you want to accomplish in the next three years?

In the next three years, I would like to obtain my Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) license and be working towards my Professional Engineering (PE) license.

What aspect of being in the Dream Team has stuck with you?

Knowing how to have a strong work ethic has stuck with me since being a part of the Dream Team. Being a first-generation student is a great honor but also a very difficult thing to do because there are a lot of expectations that come along with that title, and it can be a difficult path to navigate on your own. The Greeley Dream Team gave me the tools I needed to achieve my goals, but it was up to me to decide how I would make the most out of those opportunities.

What are your goals for the future, and what goals have you achieved?

My two biggest achievements so far have been graduating from Colorado School of Mines on a full-ride scholarship and traveling to countries I only ever dreamed of.

Some of my future goals are to make the most out of my time with my family/friends, keep traveling to a different country every year, and advance in my career.

What is one of your favorite memories of Dream Team?

My favorite memory with the Dream Team was the overnight college field trips we would go on because it helped me to start thinking about college, and they were always a lot of fun!

What is one piece of advice you would give a Dream Team student who has just graduated high school?

Be willing to take a risk, and do not be afraid to fail. Some of my greatest life experiences have come from being willing to take a risk; you never know where life could take you if you never give it a chance! My best learning experiences have come from failures, big and small; life happens, and things change, but if you are able to learn from your mistakes, that is when you grow the most as a person.
