Did you know that our Alumni Program doesn’t just support students attending a post-secondary institution, but it also supports our high school graduates in the workforce?
Our next Alumni Spotlight is on Garrett, one of our Dream Team graduates from the Class of 2019 who is now in the workforce! We have loved seeing Garrett excel after his graduation, and we can’t wait to see what adventures await him next!
High School Attended: Northridge High School Class of 2019
What are you up to now that you’ve graduated high school?
I currently work in a bakery as a Quality Tech.
What is the best thing that has happened to you since being out of school?
After graduating, the best thing to happen was experiencing a multitude of jobs. After the graduation ceremony, my girlfriend and I became official: we’ve been together for four years and are still going!
What is one thing you want to accomplish in the next three years?
There are so many things I want to accomplish within the next three years. One thing I want to accomplish is getting a place to call my own. I know the housing market is a bit out of control, but I’m always trying to keep my eye out.
What aspect of being in Dream Team has stuck with you?
An aspect of The Greeley Dream Team that has stuck with me through middle school, graduating high school, and even after is the open door they offer to allow alumni and current students to get the help they need.
What are your goals for your future, and what goals have you achieved?
As I stated before in a previous question, one of my goals is to get a house. Another goal is to get as much experience as possible at my job.
I’m still finding out some of my goals as I go. Some goals I have already accomplished are: building my savings account and budgeting, allowing myself to grow in my job, and going from a production helper to line relief to now quality. Another goal I have accomplished is building my credit, thanks to my family helping me.
What is one of your favorite memories of being in Dream Team?
I have had plenty of great experiences with Dream Team: it’s just a bit hard to remember them all. I would say it’s mostly the amazing staff that you can talk to and get along with.
What is one piece of advice you would give a Dream Team student who has recently graduated high school?
One piece of advice I would give to graduates is don’t give up on what you want to do. If you don’t know what you want to do, keep looking and find something that makes you happy. I know it’s a small place in a big world, but there are plenty of doors to take. It’s up to you to choose if one of those doors is one that you want to enter.
