Our next Alumni Spotlight is on Freddy! He graduated from Greeley Central in 2019 and earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration last December. Freddy even served as our intern the summer before his senior year. We are so proud of everything he has done so far, and we cannot wait to see what adventures await him!
High School Attended: Greeley Central High School Class of 2019
College Attended: Colorado State University
Field of Study: Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing and a double minor in Spanish and Interdisciplinary Legal Studies
What are you up to now that you’ve earned your degree?
I am an intern at Alianza NORCO, which is a local immigration nonprofit organization that assists and navigates the needs of the Fort Collins immigrant community and also those of the surrounding area. I am also working on applying for graduate programs/law school.
What is the best thing that has happened to you since you finished school?
The best thing that’s happened so far would be finding an organization that is as excited as me to help local immigrant populations and is willing to fight the good fight for immigrant rights in the US.
What is one thing you want to accomplish in the next three years?
In the next three years, I hope to be finishing a JD/MA program and beginning to start my career as an immigration/civil rights attorney.
What aspect of being in the Dream Team has stuck with you?
One of the biggest things that has stuck with me is being okay with asking for help! Post-undergrad life is a time full of transition, and through it all, I continue to remind myself that the only way to continue to move forward is to know that asking for help is the best and only way to build your networks!
What are your goals for the future, and what goals have you achieved?
In the future, I hope just to be financially stable and happy with my career path! My ultimate goal is to work with children and families in detainment facilities and help reunite them/find them a way to residency in the US.
As of now, one of my biggest goals achieved would have to be graduating with an undergraduate degree and also finding an organization that aligns with my future aspirations.
What is one of your best memories of being in the Dream Team?
One of my favorite Dream Team memories was just being able to go into the Dream Team office at Central and talking with Kendra and Eric (my Advisors) about my future and getting excited and feeling supported along the way.
What is one piece of advice you would give a Dream Team student who has just graduated high school?
It is okay to feel like you do not know what you are doing! Do your research, trust your gut, and use the resources that are available to you! And as much as imposter syndrome would say otherwise, there are so many people out there who want to see you succeed!
