July’s Alumni Spotlight is on Eric! He graduated high school (during which he earned a Dream Team Honors Scholarship and the Daniels Fund) in 2012. After he earned his bachelor’s degree, he came back to the Dream Team and served as our K8 Advisor for nearly four years. Though we miss him in his role as an Advisor, we are grateful to have played a part in his journey, both in and out of high school.

Where are you working/what are you doing for a career?
I am a Counselor for Client Services for the Office of Financial Aid at my alma mater, Colorado State University.

What is one thing you want to accomplish in the next three years?
My goal is to earn my Master’s Degree in Educational Policy and Planning or History before turning 30. That means I have three more years to get this done!

What aspect of being in the Dream Team has stuck with you?

The one aspect of being in the Dream Team that has stuck with me the most is not being afraid to ask for help when you are stuck! Once I learned to get comfortable with the idea, I found that it opened a lot of doors for me.

What is one of your best memories of being in the Dream Team?

My favorite memory of being in the DT was when we worked the golf tournament my senior year. Liz asked us to go around the course and collect the signs, so we took the opportunity to race the golf carts while we collected the signs.

What is one piece of advice you would give a Dream Team student who has just graduated high school?

Don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it.

Chase those crazy ideas you come up with – you’d be surprised at how fun they are to accomplish!
