Next in the Alumni Spotlight is Emily! She is a Dream Team Honors Scholar who graduated in 2020 and is working hard toward earning her degree at UNC! We are super proud of her hard work so far, and we can’t wait to see what adventures await her next!

Institution Attending: University of Northern Colorado
Field of Study: Business Administration – Marketing and a minor in Digital Marketing
What aspect of being in the Dream Team has stuck with you?
The support. They have always been here for me, and I’ve been able to share my experiences with them through the years. I’ve always felt like I’m being heard and encouraged. That support has meant a lot to me.
What are your goals for the future, and what goals have you achieved?
My immediate goal is to graduate from UNC with my degree, and then I would like to find my career in the marketing world. I want to give back in the future and make an impact on others, and pay that forward. I would like to guide students like me, who are first-generation, and mentor them to succeed. Completing a summer internship has been a memorable experience. During this time, I completed an ad campaign with Lift the Label to raise awareness for behavioral health.
What is one of your favorite memories of the Dream Team?
I really enjoyed the workshops because it felt like a community and a place where we could gather and just be ourselves. Workshops were a place where I could meet new people and make new friends.
What is one piece of advice you would give a Dream Team student who has recently graduated high school?
Be open to meeting new people, as you never know where those connections can take you. Do not be afraid to follow your dreams and find your voice in this world. Remember that Dream Team is there to support you!
