Academic Advisor, Educational Talent Search (ETS)
Educational Talent Search (ETS) is a federally funded pre-collegiate program that creates educational opportunities for low-income, first generation students while providing access to higher education and assisting in the transition to college. ETS works with students in Greeley-Evans School District 6 who are in grades 6-12 who have the drive to pursue a college education. The Academic Advisor provides academic advising services, recruitment activities, and prepares secondary students for post-high school experience, including college, career and success skill advising.
Executive Director/Assistant Director of Educational Talent Search
Identify and recruit eligible program participants in grades 6-12
Must have skills to persuade, motivate, understand, and communicate with middle and high school students
Must be able to work with a diverse student population
Advise and provide planned services that assure retention, promotion and graduation for a caseload of approximately 175 students
Assist students in completing college admission and financial aid applications
Advise and assist high school seniors to become “college ready” and assure that they are prepared to enroll in a program of post-secondary education
Assist students in preparing for college entrance applications, examinations, and scholarships
Guidance on and assistance in secondary school re-entry or entry to GED programs or other alternative education programs for secondary school dropouts
Personal and career counseling
DATABASE & RECORDS
Maintain student program files, keeping information current, accurate and confidential
Entering student data and tracking through the Blumen Student Tracking System
SPECIAL EVENTS & FIELD TRIPS
Plan and/or assist with parent workshops, activities and meetings
Organize, facilitate and participate in field trips to local, in-state/out-of-state college campuses
Work closely with counselors and administrators at the school(s) where you are assigned.
Individual parent contact as needed
TEAM MEMBER of The Greeley Dream Team
Support annual events and activities as assigned
Attend staff meetings
Communicate with co-workers and supervisor
Adhere to policies and procedures
Responsible for carrying out program goals
Participate in Local, State and Regional conferences as assigned
This position is highly visible in outreach where adherence to protocol, policies and procedures is expected and of high priority
Professional appearance in dress and manor
Other activities as assigned
Bachelors Degree required, preferred in the following areas: human services, education or other related fields.
Prior experience in working with a diverse student population and/or a TRiO or pre-collegiate program.
Knowledge of post-secondary education and financial aid
Technical knowledge of: Windows, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and the World Wide Web
High level customer service skills
Excellent communication skills; oral and written
Demonstrated organizational, multi-tasking and detail oriented skills
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
Some weekend and evening work will be required
This position offers the following:
Exempt Salaried Position
Salary dependent upon qualifications
Medical, dental, vision, sick, discretionary leave and a 403 (b) retirement account
10.5 month calendar (August – June) with District 6 Holidays observed
Scheduled day hours with some evenings and weekends required

Yesterday evening family and friends joined us as we presented our 2017 Honor Scholarship Recipients to the District 6 Board of Education!!!
At the Board of Education meeting the Board Members welcomed 22 Greeley Dream Team students who received Greeley Dream Team Scholarships worth $1,000 each.

The State of Colorado, under the Enterprise Zone Legislation, has provided you with and opportunity to have a positive impact on the continued health and vitality of Weld County. By making a cash contribution, ($250 minimum) to The Greeley Dream Team, Inc., you are entitled to receive 25% of the value of your cash contribution as credit against your state income tax liability. You also may be eligible to receive state and federal deductions on your contribution.

Donor Appreciation Event
September 22nd, 2016 The Greeley Dream Team along with Guaranty Bank hosted a Donor Appreciation Event. Several of our Board of Directors attended the event along with several donors. Our goal was to remind them of why we do what we do, "turning education dreams into reality". We had three of our alumni speak at the event, reinforcing the importance of The Greeley Dream Team in their lives and how it helped them acheive their dreams. Drive for Success School Supply Drive
As we enjoy the dog days of summer, many stores have already set up their school supply displays...and our students need your help!! Many of the students we serve are unable to purchase the supplies they need in order to return to school next month. Please consider hosting a collection site or providing a financial contribution so that we may purchase supplies on your behalf. Our annual School Supply Drive for Success will run thru August 11, 2016. If you are interested in hosting a collection site, please contact Elizabeth Barber at 348-6380. Greeley Dream Team Awarded Grant from Department of Education
The Greeley Dream Team is pleased to announce that we have been awarded a grant from the Department of Education for our Educational Talent Search (ETS) Program. This program works with students in grades 6 thru 12, from limited-income and first generation college backgrounds to graduate from high school, enroll in a post-secondary institution, and complete a post-secondary program earning them a trade school certification, an Associate’s Degree, or a Bachelor’s Degree. Over the course of the five year award the organization will receive $1,632,000. “We are thrilled to, yet again, receive this award to continue our work with the students in Greeley-Evans School District 6! This program truly changes the trajectory of the students’ path in education,” said Elizabeth Barber, Executive Director of The Greeley Dream Team.
High Plains Summer Reading Program
For 2016 the High Plains Sumer Reading Program is all about being active! This years’ participants have the ability to either register online, at the library, or at the community outreach stops (i.e. The Pines Apartments, Rodarte Cultural Center, Boys and Girls Club, Anna Gimmestad Park). Each participant will be given a reading log to complete, which gives them the chance to win some great prizes during the summer. Summer reading is available for children from birth to grade 12. They have many events and programs planned for the summer that kids of all ages are able to participate in. Libraries have a printout of all the activities, you can also look at the High Plains Online Calendar.
District 6 Host Regional Summer Meal Kickoff Event
District 6 will begin its Summer Food Service Program on May 31st and will continue through August 11th. Breakfast will be served 7:45 - 9:00 a.m. and lunch will be served 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. All sites will serve meals Monday through Thursday. No meals will be served on Fridays.
The federally-funded Summer Food Service Program provides free breakfast and lunch to any child between the ages of 1 and 18. Adults can also eat for a small fee.
